"The Love of A Lifetime": HALLOWEEN *Xylanthia* |
Life is funny, you search for what seems to be a lifetime for true love and never seem to find exactly who or what you're looking for. The second that you give up on love, and grow strangely used to the idea that the rest of your days will be lonely and out of nowhere Cupid arrives. Don't let the image of some cute little cherub fool you though, when he hits you with love that psycho demon whaps you over the head with a brick and laughs as you're bowled over by the force.
It happened that way with Gavin and I, one night after hitting the clubs and drinking way past my fill I was headed home when we ran into each other..literally. I was angry, he was arrogant...I screamed at him, he laughed. Somehow we made it past those first few moments without me killing him, and I began to notice his piercing, almost hypnotic eyes. I think I fell in love right then and there. I don't know how he did it, but somehow he worked some kind of magic over my cold heart and melted me. I would do anything for him.
We started dating immediately, which was no simple feat as it was very rare for us to ever get any quality time alone. Gavin has this night job, I don't know alot about it as he says it's very complicated and that he isn't really allowed to talk about it. Quite frustrating to say the least, but hey, it does eliminate the problems that most couples have with "too much shop talk". Obviously, working nights also posed the added dilemma of his requiring sleep in the day time, and my lifestyle prevents me from being available in the daytime...so, we found it difficult to say the least, but we made the most of the nights that we did get together.
We had been dating almost a year when Gavin asked me to dress formally on our next evening out as he had something special in mind. I was so excited, thinking that finally, "THE" moment had arrived. I was anticipating, yet dreading, a restaurant as he always chastised me for not eating enough as it was..and I just knew that my anticipation of the question that I was hoping for would make it worse. Luckily, instead he surprised me by taking me to a park where a horse drawn carriage awaited. "I know that we always come out at night, " he began "But I don't think you've ever seen the night time quite like this". He was right, this night was more wondrous than any I had ever before seen. What took my breath away even more was the sight of my sweet Gavin, dressed to the nines in a tuxedo, top hat and matching velvet cape. I couldn't believe how wonderfully sexy he looked as he helped me into the carriage.
I lay there with my head upon his chest, wondering at how I had come to find someone so perfect. Gavin was modern, yet so old fashioned and chraming as well. Sometimes I thought that I was living in a dream and prayed that if so I would never wake up. Suddenly, the carriage stopped and we were parked in front of a winding path. Gavin stepped down from the carriage, extended his hand, and said "Walk with me?" I nodded nervously and accepted his hand. As we walked along we were both silent for a bit. Gavin spoke first, "Lyric, I have been alone for so long...and I know that my behaviour at times has confused you and certainly made you wonder where you stand. I know that I keep long hours at night and that I can't tell you anything about my work, that can't change...but some parts of our life can, if you will allow that to happen. Up ahead is my home, and I know that in the year that we have been together that I have never brought you home nor invited you over, but it is because I love and respect you so much and never wanted to demean your value as a lady. Tonight, I invite you to come home with me...but only if you'll do me the honor of becoming my wife." With that, Gavin dropped to his knee and held out a ring. I hurriedly wiped away my tears with one hand as I nodded and extended the other hand to accept his ring. "Yes, Yes of course I'll marry you" I gasped out.
Gavin slowly slipped the ring upon my finger and stood to embrace me. After a time, he pulled slightly away and taking my hands into his asked, "Will you come home with me? Now, tonight? I know that we aren't married yet, but I want you to start thinking of it as your home now too..." I nodded slowly, and asked "Are you sure Gavin? If this is really what you want.." In reply he kissed me, and then we parted and walked the rest of the path to Gavins, OUR, home.
The house was devine, an elegant two story Victorian, set all by itself. It was perfect. Once we got inside and walked around, our passion got the better of us and we headed into the master bedroom. As Gavin softly lay me down and began kissing my neck, I threw my head back in ecstasy and as I sank my teeth into his beautiful neck and felt his warm blood begin to course into my body I was never happier nor felt more complete. I know that surely he had other plans, but there would be no church wedding for this couple....our marriage had taken place this night and the committment sealed in blood. I knew that once we awoke the next night and he had an opportunity to drink from me, Gavin would agree. |
