GLIN CASTLE,GLIN, MUSTER, IRELAND.33DEGREE |
| Glin Castle has been in the Fitzgerald family for over 700 years. It stands on 500 acres along the Shannon River in County Clare near the village of Glin. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful formal gardens. The Fitzgeralds produced a long line of knights and noblemen, and it is their spirits that still haunt the castle. Lights flicker and dim in ghostly rhythm, drawers open and close rapidly by themselves, footsteps are heard when no one is there. Many feel an "unseen presence". An odd apparition, the phantom of a rope, is sometimes seen dangling from the ceiling above the main staircase. The frayed rope is all that remains behind of an accident that occurred there in the late 19th Century. A hired worker fell to his death on the stairs when his safety line broke.International Directory of Haunted Places,p.96. |
