VIKING APPARITION, TYNE PRIORY RUINS, TYNEMOUTH, ENGLAND |
| The apparition of a Viking is seen walking in the ruins of the ancient priory on the Tyne River at Tynemouth. Sometimes he is seen crossing the river with his ghostly dog waiting on the shore. The apparition is Olaf the Viking, who converted to Christianity, became a monk, and then was assigned as prior of Tynemouth. In performing his duties, Olaf crossed the Tyne everday, and his dog followed his to wait for his return on the shore. One day Olaf did not return, but his dog remained at the site until it died several years later. Locals have nicknamed the phantom dog,"Wandering Willie".International Directory of Haunted Places,pp.76-77. |

Assuming the dog left to look for food, he did leave the "spot" and came back later but I just share the info.,I don't create it. |

I've seen ghost animals, so I believe the dog would be there still waiting for his master, how loyal. |
