| The wine cellar of this elegant 1790s mansion is haunted by the ghost of its builder, Dr. John Carmichael.The doctor was a wine connoisseur and had assembled an enviable collection of fine vintages in his wine cellar. He left instructions that when he died his coffin be taken to the cellar, where guests woulddrink from a large keg of wine until it was consumed. Then, he would be buried on the property. His instructions were obeyed to the letter. Today, in the late afternoon, his presence is detected in the cellar, rocking softly in his old rocking chair, sipping on a glassof fine wine.Haunted Places,p. 242. |
