My Grandparents house -OG-

My Grandparents on my Mothers side of the family go to Florida every winter to stay in an an RV resort. On Thanksgiving, we went to their house to cook dinner and to eat over there because their dining room table is bigger than ours ( this was our first year eating Thanksgiving dinner with just OUR family). While we were there, my sister and I noticed a couple things that went on.

Before I go on with the story, I need to give you some back ground information. My Mother has one Brother named Erik and two sisters named LeeAnne and Kara. Erik is the oldest, Followed by LeeAnne, my Mother and Kara. Erik was born in 1959, three years after my Gradparents got married. Unfortunately, he only lived to be 10 years old. He and my Grandfather were on a boat one day in 1969 on Lake Erie, No one really knows what happened. My Grandfather turned around and My Uncle Erik was no where on the boat. He washed up on a private beach two weeks later. He even had a life jacket on and he was a great swimmer ( so I was told ) but he still drowned. My Grandparents never moved or anything after he died. As a matter of fact, they live about two miles from where the accident happened.

Anyhow, back to the reason I am posting this. I have always felt that my Uncle never really left my Grandparents house. My Grandfather was very sad and distraught after Erik's death. I personally believe my uncle roams around that house still, making sure my Grandparents are OK. My Grandparents only have one picture of him sitting in their dinning room. All the other pictures are tucked away in drawers, almost to be forgotten. They do not visit his grave anymore and perhaps there isn't anything wrong with that because it's been so long now. When I walk through the dinning room ( and my Dad even says the same thing ) it just feels....different than any other room. Even if you're the only one in there, you do not feel alone and I swear that picture of my uncle wiggs me out sometimes, like his eyes are always on me. Now that I am older, it doesn't bother me as much just because...well you know, just because.

Nothing else has ever happened to me until early Thursday morning. My family spent the night over there so we could wake up early the next morning to prepare the Thanksgiving dinner. It was around 4am and me and my sister both woke up to hear pots clinging in the kitchen. My Grandmother has them hanging on the wall and it sounded like someone was hitting them or taking them off the wall. I thought it could have been my Dad because he was out late and didn't come home until everyone else was asleep. I got up and peeped out the bedroom door and saw that no lights were on in the house and I KNEW my Dad was asleep because I could hear him snoring. ( He snores so loud the windows rattle ) I didn't really feel scared, I just felt uneasy. I went back to bed, and that was that. Nothing else happened to ME.

Today I was talking with my sister and she told me that last night when I went to bed, she was sitting up with the family watching TV and something really strange happened. My Grandparents have a tourch light...you know, those long tall lights that have different settings? Anyhow, they were watching finding Nemo and it turned off on it's own. My brother who is only 7 got scared and said "whoa what was that"? My sister told him it was the automatic timer the light was hooked up to. Previously, when my Grandparents left for Vacation, they had two lights put on timers. One in the dining room and one in the family room. My Mom checked the tourch light and IT WAS NOT hooked to the timer. She even told me you could hear the switch clicking when it went off!

I came home today with my Mom while everyone else stayed at my Grandparents house. When my Dad came home, he also told me the light turned off while he was sitting in the living room and he felt like someone else was in the room. What do you think?? Is this my Uncle Erik's way of saying "YOO HOO!I'm still here, I still exist, please don't forget me" or is it something else? I mean, it kind of makes sense to me. He was a child when he passed and the things that were going on in the house were something a child would do. And it also seems like something a child would do to get attention. He died so tramatically....maybe he does not know he is dead. Maybe he is upset that my grandparents kind of just shoved his things away like he never was born?

Thoughts, questions, concerns would be nice :-) And also, if anyone here could tell me if it is my uncle or not, I would be really happy!

Luna-cy 11/25/2005 9:28:00 PM Well, it does sound like somethings going on in the house. I'm not an expert on these things, but perhaps it is Erik just popping in to let everyone know he's still around.
6Ball 11/26/2005 12:47:00 AM It sure does sound like something's going on in the house. I believe God allows the spirits of those departed to come back sometimes. First, you must make sure this spirit is of God and is serving His purpose. Next time anything like this happens, say aloud "In the name of Jesus Christ, I demand you to flee if your purpose is not of God...you have no power here"!
So Sweet Sofia 11/26/2005 7:20:00 AM Interesting post. Thansk for sharing.
Solrare 1/3/2006 11:51:00 PM its very possible that ypur uncle does not know he is gone and only thinks ur ignoring him (explains) bainging and clicking things off. :)
My Wave 1/14/2006 2:04:00 AM I have a comment on the drowning. You know life jackets weren't all that great that long ago. I live on the great lakes and it's not all that unusual that one would drown with a life jacket on. And a yoo hoo from a loved one is nothing to be scared of.
